THE ARAB CHAMBER OF COMMERCE & INDUSTRY TAKES PART IN A VIRTUAL TOUR OF CHINA’S GBA FOR FOREIGN BUSINESSES IN HONG KONG JOINTLY HELD BY THE OFFICE OF THE COMMISSIONER OF THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS IN THE HONG KONG SAR, THE SAR GOVERNMENT AND THE GUANGDONG PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT

Lord Edwin E. Hitti, President of The Arab Chamber of Commerce & Industry, attends the jointly held event by the Commissioner’s Office of the Chinese Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), the HKSAR government, and the Guangdong provincial government. The event was themed “A New Journey with Greater Opportunities.”

Liu Guangyuan, Commissioner of the Chinese foreign ministry in the HKSAR, said the event could let foreign business communities in Hong Kong see China’s firm determination in expanding opening up, the opportunities in China’s building of a new development pattern, and Hong Kong’s advantages in seizing opportunities in China’s rapid development.

Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of the HKSAR, said the Greater Bay Area (GBA) not only leads the country in terms of its level of economic development, but also enjoys strong complementarity particularly with Hong Kong, such as in the area of innovation and technology.

Cong Liang, Deputy Head of the National Development and Reform Commission, said more efforts will be made to help Hong Kong to enhance its competitive edge and provide a more favorable development environment for foreign-funded enterprises and other types of market entities.

The special event included a virtual tour of six leading enterprises from Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan and Zhuhai, with their respective business focuses, including intelligent equipment, and biomedical electronics business opportunities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao, GBA. It was held in Hong Kong and Shenzhen concurrently on Friday, taking representatives of foreign Chambers of Commerce and firms on a virtual tour of the vibrant region.
